Friends Provident was founded as a mutual in 1832 and has it’s head office in London . In 2001 the company demutualised and from July 2001 it has been a proprietary company listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Founded in 1832 in Bradford by Quakers, Friends Provident was originally set up to provide life assurance for their members. Originally the office was located above a sweet shop. Today the head office is now located at 100 Wood Street in London .
Friends Provident sponsored Southampton Football Club and help finance the building of their new stadium St Mary's, until 2006, when low cost airline Flybe took over the sponsorship.
Friends Provident have offices in a number of locations around the UK including Manchester , Exeter , Preston and Dorking. Friends Provident are reputed to be the second largest employer in Salisbury , their main administration base.
Internationally Friends Provident has offices in such diverse places as Luxembourg , Hong Kong, and Dubai .
