Protecting your mortgage

If you are looking to repay your mortgage in the event of death or earlier critical illness then the amount of cover you arrange needs to equal at least the amount you have outstanding with your lender.

Protecting your family

If you have someone that is financially dependent on you then life and/or critical illness insurance can help you ensure that if you die or suffer a critical illness they will be financially secure.

We suggest that you look at how much your dependants might need a year to live on (excluding your mortgage if you already have cover for this). You will then need to consider how many years they might need the cover for.

For example they may need £10,000 a year for 10 years and therefore you could decide that £100,000 is the right amount of insurance.
